October Resources From Thinkfinty

I subscribe to the newsletter from Thinkfinity.org, which is an exceptional educational resource.  Thinkfinity.org is a clearinghouse of media rich web content. They have partners (such as National Geographic) who deliver engaging content and give you a way to easily search through it. Here is an excerpt from their recent newsletter: Teachers, are your kids [...]

Weebly For Education

I just read on ‘Free Technology For Teachers‘ that Weebly now has a service called ‘Weebly For Education.’  Weebly was already a very good choice for teacher web pages, so what is the big deal? For starters, if you register on the education site, you can build (and manage) student accounts as well. So now [...]

BrainPop rotates several free movies, and there is almost always a curricular or timely movie available for you to teach with. Click on http://www.brainpop.com/free_movies/ to see the current list of free offerings.

Another Fun Graphics Generator

http://www.says-it.com/ Fun graphics and art you design yourself. Great for classroom posters, handouts, bulletin boards and webpages. Put your class or school name on a truck, on  Jeopardy! slide or a host of other options. Enjoy!

What Browser?

http://www.whatbrowser.org/ A one minute informative video explaining what exactly a web browser is.  Many computer users do not know that a web browser is separate from their operating system. Worth showing your students or watching for your own information.

Audience Sounds

http://www.audiencesounds.com Add a bookmarks folder to your browser called ‘fun’ and let this be your first entry. Simply put: sound effects.  Hook your Tablet up to your speakers and be ready with the applause for whenever your children do something exceptional.  There are some other ones that border on juvenile but I’m sure you’ll find [...]

The Post It Note

Have you used the ‘Sticky Notes’ on you Tablet PC lately? Very functional, and probably the quickest voice record available. I enjoy the ability to resize the notes and the time/date stamp.

Art, Music, and PE

I am adding more and more links to the Art and Music section of Tablet Talk. You can access it over on the right hand side of the page. Pass it on to the art and music teachers in your life.  Some of the links would be great for the classroom too, check them out! [...]

Get More Viewing Area

Hint: when projecting a flash game, video or anything on the web hit f11 on your keyboard to hide the URL bar and give yourself more room. Mouse over where it was or hit f11 again to get it back.
