Usually when you want to upgrade SMART Notebook you can simply choose Help/Check For Updates. This was not the case for me, I had to go to the above link. It treated it like a new install, but it did accept my old activation code. It will prompt you for an activation code, but if you already have an activated a previous version you can ignore that)
(When I downloaded the program I chose not to try the 30 Day Math Software because I wanted to make sure I made the best use of my 30 days and I didn’t want to fool with that right now)
There are several features which make this a worthwhile upgrade. I found the transparent tool to be absolutely awesome, I can’t wait to use it in my next presentation. (think: floating tool bars but with more than just a layer of ink… all the functionality of the notebook!)
For an in-depth and high quality overview of this tool, the ruler and the protractor that are new click here.
(It took about 35 minutes and a restart to upgrade, consider this before you start. You should not need an activation code, but if for some reason you do, JCPS folks can write to me or your ETT)

Thanks for the link to my blog!
actually – I found when I installed it over the top of a current, activated install I didnt need the code.
It did ask for my activation code when I started, but I just ignored it, left it blank and carried on without it. I did not need to enter it at all.
Very helpful, thanks! Great post on the new features!
